My fascination with glass has become a serious creative pursuit in the new millennium. My training under the guidance of Kari Minnick, Tim Tate and Erwin Timmers (Meltdown Glass Studio at Millennium Arts Center, Washington DC) soon led me to explore the frontiers of working in warm glass, principally at the Kari Minnick Art Glass Studio in Silver Spring, MD. Studying with Judith Conway, Richard LaLonde, David Leatherbarrow, and Kevin Toole at the Vitrum Studio in Beltsville, MD further enhanced my journey on the glass horizons.
My pieces are created and shaped by fusing layers of different colors of fine glass, sometimes with metallic (mostly fine silver leaf and 23 k gold leaf) or organic elements (especially leaves), at up to 1,500°F in an electric kiln in multiple firings. My designs are often inspired by the glory and splendor of nature—its innumerable acts of random beauty! I rejoice in the wonderful luminosity of glass and rejoice in color—unabashedly.
My work has found strong resonance, including in juried shows:
